  1. What are you doing?
I am prayforming my soloperas. Prayforming is my everything, my joy, my creative expression, my workout, my self study, my being-duty to pay back to the universe for the gift of my existence. I call myself a prayformance artist.

  2. What is a solopera?
A solopera is a word I coined to describe my work. It comes from "solo" meaning alone, "sol" meaning sun, and "sol" a homonym for soul merged with "opera" meaning dramatic performance put to music and the plural form of "opus" which means work. It is part vocalizing, puzzle, aerobics routine, monologue, language deconstruction, alchemy, theater, healing ritual, sacred dance, all accompanied by solo violin and complex percussive rhythms. It draws from the mythological world of the Festad about which I have been writing since a child.

  3. What do you wear under your loin cloth?
You'll have to look for yourself. But before you do, please ask first!

  4. How old are you?
If you had only three questions to ask me, would that be one of them?

S.K. Thoth, Modern Mythmaker, And The Rite Of Sub-Creation
As a one-man opera and sub-creator, S.K. Thoth, stands amongst those who have inspired and gone before him. His life, philosophy, mythological world and ultimately what he calls his “death dance” are a fine balance of earlier methods from many areas of art, literature, music, and drama; he is one born as a new leaf upon the great tree. A primary influence, who will remain with him his entire life, is J.R.R. Tolkien, author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. This piece endeavors to explore the creative process of the mythological work of S.K. Thoth, along with his philosophy on creativity, spirituality, and sub-creation. Full Text

Why Tolkien
My early life of self hatred was lessened by reading the works of writer J.R.R. Tolkien who showed me that imagination was not something to be feared.

Language Of The Festad: an introduction
During every prayformance, I write a word or two from the language of the Festad in my prayformance journal and improvise it into my singing. The language of the Festad has come into existence because of my personal growth and the evolution of the process of creating the Festad world.
